WPC – Think Rounded of Central Market

Central Market is one of the must-see places when a tourist travels to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Built in 1937 with Art Deco style during the French colonial period, this market is called Phsar Thmei, which has meaning ‘a new market’ in Khmer language.

Being located in the heart of Phnom Penh, this bright yellow painted building is easy to find. It is located on Street 128, Kampuchea Krom, in Phsar Thmei 1 Commune, Daun Penh District. Visitor can find a lot of stalls selling gold and silver jewelry, electronic equipment, clothes, watches and bags, suitcases, dried and fresh food and of course lots of souvenirs, although those things are usually overpriced.

The most interesting of Central Market is the four wings dominated by a central round dome. Its design allows maximum ventilation. Perhaps, it is the most airy market in Phnom Penh.
