WPC – Peek A Smiling Face

Peek A Smiling Face

When I visited Bayon Temple in Angkor Thom, Angkor Archaeological Park, Cambodia, I could not help myself not to capture the moment of a staff who peeked the smiling face through a door. Well, the most distinctive feature in Bayon temple, -as the official state temple of King Jayavarman VII which was built in late 12th or early 13th century-, is the serene and smiling stone faces on the towers which jut out from the upper terrace and cluster around its central peak.

Being unique and as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bayon Temple is one of the most visited temple in Angkor area.
