Last month I visited Preah Khan Kp. Svay, an isolated temple which can be reached by 2.5 – 3 hrs driving from Siem Reap. The temple is magnificent and of course less tourists. As a remote temple which is not easy to go there, I was the only tourist at the time I visited. It’s the largest single temple complex ever built during Angkorian Era since the enclosure is about 5 km square!
I was amazed to the situation at Preah Khan Kp. Svay temple or they called locally as Prasat Bakan which was believed to be built around 12th-century. When I passed through the inner gate, I saw the roots of the tree among the stones of the gate’s wall. No wonder, the big tree grows powerfully on the temple’s gate.
Against the odds, I don’t know which one will survive, as the temple was registered as one of the Tentative List of UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tree or the gate.. ?
