Weekly Photo Challenge ~ Door

For this week’s photo challenge with the theme Door, I select 5 photos of various beautiful places in Cambodia.

I love the door of a temple in Royal Tomb in Oudong, 40km northwest of Phnom Penh. The temple is relatively new compared to other spires on the top of Oudong Hills. The intricate image in white-grey color on the surface of the temple is a contrast to its gold painted door.

I don’t know the reason, but I always take a photo on the Victory Gate of Royal Palace in Phnom Penh every time I visit this place. Perhaps because of the word of Victory. For me, like door, it means a change in a situation and it attracts me.

We can see this beautiful door in Royal Palace complex in Phnom Penh, before buying the admission. The image with the hands in front of the chest looks like welcoming the tourists to Royal Palace.

On the way to the Oudong Royal Tomb, we can visit the Cambodia Vipassana Dhura Buddhist Center which is on the foot of Oudong hill. This main structure has a beautiful wooden door.

Finally I had the chance to visit Preah Ko, a temple in Roluos group, around 15 km south east of Angkor Wat. Like the other Angkorian temples, Preah Ko has false door as well. It’s a way to decorate the wall.
